Facebook wants to be your news destination with Instant Articles from BBC, New York Times and more

Many already find most of their news via Facebook and now the social network wants to make it even easier for users to read the latest stories.

The company is working with a number of news outlets on its new Instant Articles feature, which enables publishers to make their articles available directly on the social network.

For the moment, only a small number of organisations will host their content on Instant Articles, including BBC News, National Geographic and the New York Times.

Publishers have the option to make completely new content for Instant Articles rather than copying stories from their existing websites, although the BBC has ruled out doing so.

They will also receive a 100% share of revenue from any adverts sales on their article pages.

"Fundamentally, this is a tool that enables publishers to provide a better experience for their readers on Facebook" said Facebook chief product officer Chris Cox.

"Instant Articles lets them deliver fast, interactive articles while maintaining control of their content and business models."
