LG To Launch New G4 Smartphone

South Korean electronics company LG Electronics, Inc. announced Monday the rollout of its flagship G4 smartphone, the successor to the G3, this week to consumers in key markets around the world. It was rolled out in LG's home market of South Korea on April 29.

Starting in Hong Kong, the G4 will follow with rollouts in Turkey, Russia and Singapore, eventually including most of Europe, North America, CIS, Southeast Asia, Middle East/Africa and South/Central America. Nearly 180 carriers and retails are already on board as G4 partners.

"The LG G4 is our most ambitious smartphone yet because it is unlike any other flagship mobile phone on the market today. Our vision is to create our own set of standards without worrying about what trend other smartphones are following," said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Co.

LG noted that the G4 is scheduled to launch in key strategic markets in the weeks to come continuing throughout the month into June. Prices and participating carriers will be announced locally at the time of availability.

Reports suggest that the G4 will come at the same price as the new Samsung Galaxy S6, but will be about $100 cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. It is expected to retail for around $600 without a contract and $200 as part of a U.S. carrier deal.

LG unveiled its eagerly anticipated LG G4 smartphone on April 29, at launch events in New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Istanbul and Seoul.

With the G4, LG said it is focused on delivering comfortable elegance, a great visual experience and a human-centric user experience.

LG G4 features a new technology 5.5-inch IPS Quantum display, a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front-facing camera for high quality photos and portraits.

The G4 is powered by a snappy yet energy-thrifty Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with X10 LTE, and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. It comes with a high-capacity 3,000mAh removable battery, 3 GB RAM and 32 MB memory.

LG has also paid special attention to the materials utilized in its newest flagship, with the G4 available in handcrafted, genuine full grain leather in six beautiful colors and a subtle curve. Other material options for the G4 rear cover include pure Ceramic White with 3D patterns, artisan-forged Metallic Gray as well lustrous, Shiny Gold. It weighs 155 grams.

As part of its most ambitious smartphone introduction yet, LG selected 4,000 consumers in 15 countries who "test drove" the all new LG G4 smartphone weeks before its official launch. The 4,000 lucky customers received the new smartphone as part of the company's largest-ever consumer experience campaign.
