Apple TV lovers who were hoping that the tech giant's next TV will have the capability to support 4K video playing are in for a disappointment as the 4th generation Apple TV is unlikely to offer the high-definition video resolution.
The idea of having 4K support in the next Apple TV is definitely interesting as it will be a first major overhaul to the service in three years but it is not easy to offer this capability to mass market.
BuzzFeed News reported that the issue of economics is also significant as delivering 4K streaming at scale would be an expensive proposition and requires a lot of bandwidth. It would also require more powerful compression technologies to transmit it sans hiccups.
Experts maintain that 4K video streaming would take some more time to catch up in the market due to factors like affordability of delivering the quality and availability of faster data connections.
It is also notable that only a handful of consumers have opted for 4K streaming service and it need to cover a long way to strike the right chord with the audience both in terms of affordability and availability as compared to the HD service. Netflix and Amazon added 4K video streaming to their video services last year, but the have kept their offering limited.
