Rumors are circulating that the new Lumia 840, an upcoming product from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT), will soon replace the Lumia 830. When the latter was launched in 2014, Microsoft introduced functions such as photo editing, document viewing, face detection, panorama, etc. However, Microsoft is apparently aiming to make the new Lumia 840 a modified version of the Lumia 830.
According to Microsoft, the name of the new device is still unconfirmed, thereby making Lumina 840 a tentative name. Whilst the company is basking in the glory of creating a sudden shock value with the news of Lumia 830’s modified version, it are also working hand-in-hand on projects expected to be released in upcoming years. Some of these projects include the Microsoft Lumia 940 and the Microsoft Lumia 740 XL. The latter promises a larger screen compared to the previous one, and a non-PureView camera.
Even though official release dates for Microsoft’s latest device haven’t been announced yet, it is expected to be released in the coming months. Therefore, Indian markets have conveniently stopped restocking the Lumia 830 supplies after their last sales. The Lumia 830 to 840 transition is a step up for the Lumia devices.
It is believed that the expected model will come with Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2, along with a 5-inch display size. The phone supports dual SIM functionality and has a stronger chipset, compared to the previous Lumia model. Along with complex software, the phone includes a 13-14MP rear camera, and a 5 MP front camera.
According to the company, the design of the upcoming Microsoft phone is going to be "slightly modified." Microsoft is highlighting its attempt to enhance user experience with an improved software and outer look. With the Indian market boldly allowing stocks of Lumia 830 to end without rushing to restock, it is evident that Microsoft has envisioned delivering a product that would be a step-up from the 2014 Lumia technology.
