The "front page of the Internet" is about to get a lot more visual.
"The stories that happen here are stories that deserve to be told. So we're going to start telling them in our own way, for our community, and for our world at large," Reddit said in a video (below) introducing the service.
That content will be produced by Stephen Greenwood and Jordan Oplinger, who previously worked on the video team at The Verge. Greenwood told the site that he's most excited to work with the Reddit community to tell "some of the best stories that have happened on the platform and because of the platform."
This isn't Reddit's first attempt at original videos: The company turned the popular subreddit "Explain Like I'm Five" into an online series via YouTube.
Going forward, Reddit will translate "the authenticity and connection created by our Ask Me Anything interviews" into moving pictures. After that, The Verge said, it hopes to bring more user stories to life.
Earlier this year, the company launched a new podcast feature, aimed at promoting interesting things posted to the popular network. Dubbed "Upvoted," the service is "part This American Life and part ESPN 30 for 30, with a spoonful of orangered ," Ohanian wrote in a January blog post.
At Disrupt, meanwhile, Ohanian dished on who he'd like to see participate in a Reddit AMA (which has already attracted the likes of Bill Gates and Barack Obama. But it has yet to snag Jay Z and Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, or the pope.
Check out Ohanian's appearance at TechCrunch Disrupt in the video below.
